Spare a thought for the Galway Races punter who woke up to his bar receipt this morning...

You thought your Coppers receipts were bad…

THE GALWAY RACES are in full flow and you know what that means — lots of celebrations.

Last night, one rather flaithulach customer went to The Front Door and ordered two €995 shots of whiskey.

Yes, they spent €1,990 on whiskey. (The best part? By the looks of the receipt, they paid in cash and got a tenner in change.)

The morning after receipt to end all morning after receipts.

The Front Door explained to DailyEdge.ie that the customer in question had won big at the Galway Races and was celebrating the win. (Isn’t it well for some people, etc.)

And what of this expensive whiskey? Is it really worth €995 a pop?

The whiskey in question is called Midleton Pearl and is incredibly rare, hence the high price tag.

It’s probably the most rare Irish whiskey available as only 117 bottles were produced. It’s a special edition and the most expensive whiskey we stock in the bar. For any whiskey drinker it’s the crème de la crème and from what I hear worth the cost for those who can afford it.

Not one for the whiskey and cokes, so.

As for what the customer did with the change?

Hopefully he left the €10 as a tip!
